Chad [0:06 - 0:33]
community of members, coaches and professionals working as a team of like minded individuals in constant pursuit, connecting this exclusive group with the tools and resources they require to live a high performance lifestyle, conquering what life has thrown at them? We are living the fit life. Mhm. Welcome to the living of fit life podcast. Episode 35. I'm your host, Daniel er and yes, one year later, I'm still joined by Michelle and Adam Dijon. How are you guys doing?
Michelle [0:33 - 0:38]
Hey Chad one Year later and you're still hired? Yes,
Adam [0:38 - 0:40]
still the star of the show,
Michelle [0:40 - 0:41]
buddy. Week
Chad [0:41 - 1:07]
To week, passing the test. Yes. What a ride. It's been 35 episodes. This is number 35. The big rookie season for the Living the fit life podcast. One year. Mm Pretty close to one year. We're gonna get into more about the one year anniversary podcast. But I wanted to ask you guys how things are going, how's life at LP training looks like it's heating up. It's getting hot outside.
Adam [1:08 - 1:18]
Yeah, summer is winding down, but we're, I was telling the members yesterday that This is this is the starting of week five that we're back at the
Michelle [1:18 - 1:20]
gym.
Chad [1:21 - 1:22]
Yeah,
Adam [1:22 - 1:44]
yeah, 75 That's pretty cool. LP and his crew has a huge weekend coming up. We've got a big race in Muskoka with 20 LP athletes. So coach Mark has some some high hopes actually he wants to uh be the top try club at the race. So
Chad [1:44 - 2:00]
a So what? That's huge. So, uh I have two questions, what what is the race of the 20 members are doing? Are they doing the same one and two? How do you become the top try club?
Adam [2:01 - 2:20]
Yeah, one, they're all doing the same race. Ironman Muskoka half Ironman Muskoka 17.3, so 1.9 K swim, 90 K bike and a half marathon. And you become the top try club By the average placing of your top 10 athletes.
Chad [2:20 - 2:22]
Okay, cool.
Michelle [2:22 - 2:28]
So you need to have enough athletes and you need to have some good athletes.
Adam [2:29 - 2:37]
Yeah, guys and girls, mainly, mainly the ladies are unbelievable.
Chad [2:38 - 2:39]
A
Adam [2:39 - 2:46]
few podiums in each age group from the ladies and then hopefully the boys can hop on a couple podiums.
Michelle [2:46 - 3:02]
We'll see it's been a long time since big races and training, so it'll be interesting to see how everything shakes out. So I'm looking forward to watching and watching a lot of people. So it would be
Chad [3:02 - 3:03]
cool. Yeah,
Michelle [3:03 - 3:10]
Usually you have, like in these type of races we had, we had a big crew of 5-8 or whatever that one year.
Adam [3:10 - 3:11]
But this
Michelle [3:11 - 3:16]
is, yeah, this is huge. So exciting, exciting weekend ahead.
Chad [3:16 - 3:29]
That's pretty cool. And so like, and being, being a top endurance club, is that like a pretty competitive landscape or this is just something that you guys are kind of competitive people and you're just using,
Adam [3:29 - 3:46]
there's definitely some pretty high level endurance clubs in Southern Ontario, like wealth is a pretty big hotbed. Toronto is a big hotbed, of course. So there's a couple of competitive clubs that we're gonna give. I'm a run for their money. So
Chad [3:46 - 3:47]
like it
Michelle [3:47 - 3:50]
definitely competitive. Um
Chad [3:52 - 3:52]
I
Michelle [3:52 - 3:54]
would say Mark is just wanting to
Adam [3:55 - 3:55]
strut
Michelle [3:55 - 3:56]
his stuff.
Chad [3:56 - 4:01]
I think it's cool though. It's a big year for L. P. Endurance. It's pretty awesome.
Michelle [4:01 - 4:24]
So that's endurance. We just had our compete crew have their first community throw down on the weekend which was fun, A few of them, four or five of them. Um We're at pole skis on saturday kind of throwing it down with a bunch of other athletes in the area and they had some fun doing that.
Adam [4:24 - 4:30]
They had three workouts, one was had a big lift in it, the other one had some gymnastics in it And the last one was a nasty
Michelle [4:30 - 4:36]
nasty. Yeah what's what's happening with all the different.
Chad [4:36 - 5:09]
Amazing. Amazing. And yeah so like this is this is I always look at september, I end of summer introduced in the fall because there's always like a turn of turn of the page for a lot of things. Right back to school, people sort of get back into a normal routine. I know we haven't used we're not in a normal routine for a long time but um and I also know september is LP anniversary, you guys always come up with something fun. Is there a special little something you can give the listeners in regards to what's to come in. L. P.
Michelle [5:09 - 5:20]
Yeah I would say the last two weeks in august usually are a little bit more of a down time and there's a lot of vacations usually that happened in the last two weeks of august and then usually september is
Adam [5:22 - 5:22]
yeah
Michelle [5:22 - 5:33]
let's go sort of fall full routine back like you said back to that, back to that routine.
Adam [5:33 - 5:36]
It's definitely as crazy or more crazy than New Year's for us.
Chad [5:37 - 5:37]
Yeah
Michelle [5:38 - 6:25]
we find that um and then so we kind of feed off of that and that's when we usually have our um body composition challenge. So we are in the middle of sort of planning that while we're currently in the frozen four we actually didn't even talk about that. Um So coming up with some every year we try and changes just a little bit and this year I think we've got a cool idea of how we're sort of finishing it off and um learning some different skills as we build uh the challenges each year. So that's coming up. Yeah
Adam [6:25 - 7:29]
the big focus of the body called challenges, helping people learn and understand how to really create the perfect plan for them. So we're excited to kind of go back to the basics on that and really get down dig into the nuts and bolts of you know building out your own meal plan that's perfect for you and then yeah Michelle has an amazing idea about like having like a preparation phase. The first couple weeks where you're building your plan out, getting, you know, building all the resources, then two more weeks of like whatever your goal is, if you want to build muscle, if you want to burn that if you want to lose weight. And then the one piece that she just mentioned at the end, which would be really cool, is two weeks of maintenance because we always seem to just boom fall off the cliff and it seems so intimidating to keep going. So we want to lengthen out the challenge a couple more weeks really just so we can help the members learn and understand what maintenance looks like.
Michelle [7:29 - 7:30]
So
Adam [7:30 - 7:59]
we're excited to go back. I feel like it's been a little bit since we've truly did a body challenge and we have a a long history of members that have learned the ins and outs of how to build their own nutrition kind of plan and lots of newbies or lots of people that need a little refresher on how to build that perfect plan. So that would be cool to do a lot of teaching. Again, no batter,
Michelle [8:00 - 8:04]
you kind of gave a lot of the give
Chad [8:04 - 8:08]
the people what they want, that's Adam's mentality for sure.
Michelle [8:08 - 8:42]
Ultimate goal challenges like we've kind of mentioned before can get, we don't love to do these types of challenges always because we're not a quick fix jim and everyone knows that. So it's like adding these things each time to, to get people results, but then we want to keep them, so that's the goal of this challenge is that maintenance is like, okay, how do we incorporate this into our life and what are the next steps? So not just getting results, but keeping them as our goal for the challenge this year,
Adam [8:42 - 8:54]
that will start in the end of september well let people settle into their new routines and then kick that off. Usually it goes like september october and then before christmas season, it kind of winds
Michelle [8:54 - 8:59]
that we always like to have, you know, a few holidays in there just for fun.
Adam [8:59 - 9:02]
Yeah, the toughest one right in the middle of it,
Chad [9:03 - 9:04]
Halloween,
Adam [9:04 - 9:06]
Halloween.
Chad [9:06 - 9:22]
Amazing, amazing. And yeah, um Sorry before we forget you mentioned Frozen four. I did wanna hear more about that because I have seen some pretty gruesome workouts and some crazy members doing their thing as always.
Michelle [9:23 - 9:36]
So we, I feel actually really good about it so far because as you know, the LP crew can get a little competitive and they can go off the deep end and go all in and I feel like
Chad [9:37 - 9:37]
they
Michelle [9:37 - 9:40]
were kind of keeping them contained slightly
Adam [9:40 - 9:48]
weak ones and members let them just go with it, but it was only the members that had to go, so we let them, so
Michelle [9:48 - 10:16]
like only one person per team, they just went as hard as they could. So that was a little carried away people who really, you know, wanted to and I put that in brackets quotations, It was a bit of a grind. Um so we've had some high maps in like the first two weeks, but now meps are off so that no one is doing any meps this week.
Adam [10:16 - 10:32]
Last week was a big team work week where it was like every day each teammate had to chip in. The challenges were team oriented with a combination of endurance and crossfit
Michelle [10:32 - 11:10]
endurance. We just had max elevation. So anyone on your team could participate, they didn't necessarily need to be the top endurance person. And then this week is this was adam's idea. We wanted to do a decathlon sort of to showcase um the olympics and our gold medal and stuff. So this is all the teams have to do is just 10 events. And then you get to pick who, there's some stipulations, but you get to pick who does what events. So anywhere from a 100 m run to a max bench press, so there's all sorts of,
Adam [11:10 - 11:11]
all
Michelle [11:11 - 11:12]
sorts
Adam [11:12 - 11:18]
big lifts, sprinting, Burpee, box jumps, double unders
Michelle [11:18 - 11:19]
standing long jump,
Chad [11:19 - 11:19]
like
Michelle [11:20 - 11:21]
Yeah,
Chad [11:21 - 11:22]
that's pretty awesome.
Michelle [11:22 - 11:23]
That's it for this
Adam [11:23 - 11:26]
Week, that's it, that's it, they have to complete the 10,
Michelle [11:27 - 11:29]
the 10 events.
Chad [11:29 - 11:33]
Amazing. And when it, when it's frozen for and like how many more weeks they got going on
Michelle [11:33 - 11:35]
here this time next
Chad [11:36 - 11:37]
week before
Adam [11:37 - 11:38]
the long weekend
Michelle [11:38 - 11:41]
and we'll see what we come up with to end with a bang
Adam [11:42 - 11:42]
oh
Michelle [11:43 - 12:02]
um well underway and uh so far so good in terms of not killing our members. So true for them killing themselves, you know? It's all
Adam [12:02 - 12:06]
right. That's
Chad [12:06 - 12:09]
True, that's true. 100% of your hands.
Michelle [12:10 - 12:12]
We missed you chad in this year's show
Adam [12:14 - 12:14]
last
Chad [12:14 - 12:22]
year. True. Yes. Yes. I'm okay taking a break on this one
Adam [12:23 - 12:27]
golf club championships and frozen for maps, so really going the same.
Chad [12:27 - 12:36]
Uh No not at all. Um And yeah so how and L. P. Will be turning
Michelle [12:36 - 12:37]
nine
Chad [12:37 - 12:38]
nine
Adam [12:38 - 12:40]
nine The anniversary September 2012
Michelle [12:40 - 12:41]
12.
Chad [12:42 - 12:43]
Congratulations.
Michelle [12:44 - 12:46]
Thank you. We're getting up there in age.
Chad [12:46 - 12:49]
Well these last two years probably feel like five.
Adam [12:49 - 12:51]
No kidding.
Michelle [12:51 - 12:53]
I don't even know if they count. Do they count
Adam [12:53 - 12:54]
so much?
Chad [12:54 - 12:57]
They count if you survive?
Michelle [12:57 - 12:57]
Yeah
Adam [12:57 - 13:26]
that's right. Yeah we have some fun plan. Uh I like ran an idea by Michelle and then she turned it, it's like almost like a little fitness marathon, still day of fun. So all of the different clubs are going to have you know, their own little events on that day. The lululemon seaweeds virtual uh races that day. It's a half K. Five K.
Michelle [13:27 - 13:33]
September 18th is our date, you're away aren't you?
Adam [13:33 - 13:33]
Yeah
Michelle [13:34 - 13:35]
he'll
Adam [13:35 - 13:38]
be there in spirit. He'll run a half marathon on the golf course.
Chad [13:38 - 13:41]
Yeah
Adam [13:41 - 14:26]
the endurance crew will and anyone can participate in any of the the three or four different areas then at the gym, we're gonna have a big like boot camp, uh, you know, get as many people in the boot camp classes as we can, we'll run a couple hours of those kind of like a normal saturday morning for them, but we'll have a little bit of fun around the ninth anniversary theme and then we're working on coordinating our next community throw down for the compete crew on the same day. So we want to have them throw down and then that would be kind of how we end the day and then other members can be there and kind of watch and cheer and hang out and have fun. So it's gonna be a pretty fun day.
Michelle [14:26 - 14:40]
Our goal is to try and incorporate all of the different clubs and kind of showcase that We're just finalizing all of the details, but September 18, is is the day
Chad [14:41 - 14:42]
sounds like a
Michelle [14:42 - 14:44]
blast,
Chad [14:45 - 14:47]
the fitness festival. That
Adam [14:47 - 15:01]
fitness festival. There we go. Looks festive years. Usually we do our awards that day. Usually we do a little reflection on the past year, so it would be a fun day. Lots of it. It's lots of fun.
Chad [15:03 - 15:30]
Okay, cool. And a good segue to uh we started this podcast a year ago, Sort of one Year podcast one year ago. We were at the time. Uh We were, we were initially just telling the LP story. We had like three, like I was thinking about 3-5 episodes, like how you guys would break down the story. Um you're feeding me granola back then. That stopped
Michelle [15:30 - 15:32]
now. We don't get any granola.
Chad [15:32 - 15:41]
I came up for an afternoon granola session that I missed that. Actually not going to
Adam [15:42 - 15:51]
actually, if there's a highlight, maybe I'll have that in my top three favorite parts. Is that granola to go with what?
Chad [15:52 - 16:14]
Yes, I don't know how he, I I think uh I'm trying to figure out how this whole thing started. I mean I feel like I I pushed it was you guys were writing blogs at one point trying to create content and then was it you adam that said like, well we could we talk a lot better than we can write and writing. Seems like it takes a lot of time. So talking would be easier. I think that's how it started.
Adam [16:14 - 16:27]
Yeah. Yeah, like we wanted to be able to share fitness, nutrition, recovery, all that info. Um outside of the walls of LP and
Chad [16:28 - 16:29]
it's
Adam [16:29 - 16:33]
a relatively easy way to do it chad does a lot of dirty work behind the scenes,
Michelle [16:33 - 16:33]
but
Adam [16:34 - 16:43]
it's definitely good way to have some some of our experts and guests on members talk about their success stories
Michelle [16:43 - 17:01]
and what I like about it is that so many people have said to me, oh, I I'm out for a run or I'm out for a walk or I met thing and they just turned the podcast on. So it's way more accessible than um, just having it on the internet as a, as a read only. So
Chad [17:01 - 17:04]
that's a good point. That's a good point.
Michelle [17:04 - 17:05]
Very accessible.
Adam [17:06 - 17:13]
3000 downloads. 3000 plus, let's say.
Chad [17:14 - 17:25]
Yeah, it's been pretty good. I think I, I didn't have, I wasn't sure what expectations were before, but I think it's been pretty good, learned a lot. Um I think we've gotten better.
Adam [17:25 - 17:27]
Yeah,
Chad [17:27 - 17:29]
I have to listen to the first episode again.
Michelle [17:29 - 17:33]
I was super nervous on the first few episodes and
Chad [17:34 - 17:34]
yeah,
Michelle [17:35 - 17:43]
yeah, I mean it's not still get somewhat nervous, but I wasn't sure what to expect. You know me, I'm not a big
Adam [17:44 - 17:46]
yeah. Michelle always think it has to
Michelle [17:46 - 17:47]
happen.
Adam [17:47 - 17:48]
It has to be like,
Chad [17:49 - 17:49]
yeah,
Adam [17:50 - 18:01]
value, value and it's got to be perfect. You got to be getting great information out there. So that's definitely pushed us to have some great experts on and there were lots while we're talking to them.
Chad [18:02 - 18:22]
Yes, 100%, It would be fun, if we um as part of this one year podcast, maybe we each sort of, We each pick three highlights of the, of the year and we kind of talked about that. That's what I was thinking for today's episode.
Michelle [18:24 - 18:25]
Sounds good.
Chad [18:25 - 18:38]
Okay, well I think we'll, we'll sort of carousel, we'll start and we'll go 321 leave the best ones for the last sounds the most fun. Who wants to go first. Should I go first?
Adam [18:39 - 18:40]
Yeah, you go first time.
Chad [18:41 - 19:50]
Alright, cool. My um And I had actually today, so I look back on the 35 episodes because there's been a lot um and I was like, how do I like, summarize? But I, I think my, my third place was interviewing the rising grinders, this is two episodes, sort of cheating Loralee, one episode we hosted with Michelle and then mitch Blaine with Adam. Both those episodes were super awesome for me um for probably same reasons and different reasons, I think I thought both stories were really empowering and inspirational, it was really nice to catch up with, mitch, obviously we're friends and it was, it was really, I think, what was cool about mitch's podcast, was it Adam got this idea that we should just get him after his training session, like he's a true rising grinder, let's just get into his morning and I'm like, okay, so I think it's like 5 45 60 and word podcast, he was like, and he was, he was buzzing. So I that was, that was pretty fun
Michelle [19:50 - 19:57]
to get him going at that time because that's who we see and it was nice to kind of bring that into the podcast.
Chad [19:58 - 19:58]
Yeah,
Michelle [19:58 - 20:15]
that was awesome and Laura lee, I agree with you chad, you kind of stole one of mine but um I loved sitting down with Laura lee and just, but the amazing things that she was talking about and her transformation has just been incredible, so
Chad [20:16 - 20:20]
I learned that she's a badass, ping pong player, which is cool. Yeah,
Michelle [20:20 - 20:22]
we still need to get get her,
Adam [20:22 - 20:25]
maybe that could be part of the,
Chad [20:25 - 20:26]
that
Michelle [20:26 - 20:34]
should have been part of the
Adam [20:35 - 20:36]
amazing,
Michelle [20:36 - 21:51]
amazing, okay, y'all go for my third um definitely not an intense, intense episode or anything, but I would say the episode that we did with Dr jenn on blood work was make my top three um just for the fact that I from a personal experience, blood work has provided us with so much value um in our lives and I've seen it in the few members that have done the blood work panels and we've caught some things and I hope that just getting it out there um two more people that we can help people from that perspective, dig a little deeper into their health and um from a content perspective, I would say that was one of my gen was great too, but from a content content perspective perspective, that was one of my favorites.
Chad [21:51 - 22:02]
Yeah, I learned a lot that day for sure and I don't and I think even like you don't find a lot of information out there, so I think it was really good that we did that. Yeah,
Michelle [22:02 - 22:04]
there isn't too much.
Chad [22:04 - 22:09]
Yeah, they really dig to find information like that or you know someone that did it in the sort of word about, so I think it was really cool that we did that.
Michelle [22:11 - 22:13]
What what about you buddy?
Adam [22:13 - 22:42]
Okay. My turn, my favorite kinda part. Yeah. My third favorite part of podcasting in general over the past year. Yes. The thought of like reflecting on either some of the things we've done at LP and what we've learned from them, reflecting on my own training and the transformation and sport episode going back and forth. Like often times
Chad [22:43 - 22:43]
people
Adam [22:43 - 23:24]
ask me, how do you do it? And in the in the moment I can't, it's hard to think of, you know exactly what the secrets to success are, but when we've been able to sit down on the podcast over the past year and talk about some of those big pieces of either training or L. P. 90 day focus episode or you know what we accomplished during Wife Covid. All of those episodes were cool to just do a huge reflection and take away some awesome points that we can use in the future. So I like
Michelle [23:24 - 23:24]
that.
Chad [23:25 - 23:27]
Yeah, agreed.
Adam [23:27 - 23:30]
You
Chad [23:30 - 23:32]
probably never guess that would actually make you guys reflect so
Michelle [23:32 - 23:35]
much,
Chad [23:35 - 23:36]
But it is one
Adam [23:38 - 23:39]
in one direction,
Chad [23:41 - 23:47]
Awesome. Um # two. Um
Adam [23:47 - 23:49]
No.
Chad [23:50 - 23:57]
Oh # two is the theme of Michelle making me do things that I haven't done.
Adam [23:57 - 23:59]
We
Michelle [23:59 - 24:05]
should go through all the episodes and pull out chad. Are you gonna do this chad? This is for you chad, are you going to do this?
Chad [24:06 - 24:08]
It's in the episodes
Michelle [24:08 - 24:10]
times I call you up.
Chad [24:10 - 24:24]
Yeah. Um like I know the blood panel is one you told me that I should do it and I did it, Meditation was another one. I think the sleep routines that came up a few times in some of our earlier episodes.
Michelle [24:24 - 24:26]
I think
Chad [24:26 - 24:46]
again, um I think there's a bunch of, there's a bunch of them with more gin and you that, I think there's a number of nutrition things that you told me to do. Um Yeah, I think all of them have almost like all of them stuck except for the endurance one. You still haven't gotten on board yet. That's okay.
Michelle [24:47 - 24:48]
I really feel you on that
Chad [24:48 - 24:58]
one. But I enjoy it. I, I think that's one of the things when I, when I reflect on this, I'm just like, I've tried a lot of new things and I've learned a lot. Even like the pelvic floor episode, like
Michelle [24:58 - 24:59]
I
Chad [24:59 - 25:08]
learned, I was super not uncomfortable at all, but like I was just like out of my element, like I had no idea on the topic and I learned a ton.
Michelle [25:09 - 25:26]
Yeah. And it's interesting because it is a topic a few of us girls were talking about yesterday and Sarah demeter mentioned like when bryson was born her first child, like that wasn't even talked about
Chad [25:27 - 25:27]
public
Michelle [25:27 - 26:20]
for us. So it's come a long way since then and so glad that is getting out there and people are not only are are pregnant um And post natal, all of that stuff getting done but even um some of our mom so um people 60 plus are going in there getting it done and they've had getting worked on it and they've had issues their whole life and they're seeing seeing results after all this time. So super cool. Area two to bring forward again just kind of like that blood work panel of let's get that info out there and help as many people as you can. You haven't booked an appointment? Okay I'm
Chad [26:20 - 26:23]
interested I haven't yet. I haven't yet
Michelle [26:24 - 26:24]
but
Chad [26:24 - 26:35]
like I said there's no timetable on when you tell me to do something it's just usually I look back and like yeah I did this and why did I do it? Because Michelle sort of said it out loud on some sort of public form.
Michelle [26:36 - 26:38]
No
Chad [26:38 - 26:40]
you're just holding me accountable to be better.
Michelle [26:41 - 26:51]
I haven't I actually don't know as much as they say men go to pelvic floor, I don't know one single meal that's been to pelvic floor physio. So I'm interested to know what
Adam [26:51 - 26:52]
that maybe
Michelle [26:52 - 26:56]
I'll force adam in his off season to go and I
Chad [26:56 - 27:01]
was just gonna say she just said that so it was either gonna be you or me that do it.
Michelle [27:01 - 27:02]
She's
Chad [27:02 - 27:03]
just adding on top of it now the
Michelle [27:03 - 27:05]
pressure.
Chad [27:07 - 27:08]
Alright Michelle You're # two.
Michelle [27:09 - 27:24]
Um No I enjoyed it's tricky because I know what my top one is there and then there's like a few
Adam [27:25 - 27:26]
well come together
Michelle [27:26 - 27:33]
website um I will go with
Chad [27:35 - 27:36]
Yeah,
Michelle [27:37 - 27:50]
I see, I want to lump them together because I like I'm really listening to the um the member podcasts, but you already said that
Chad [27:50 - 27:51]
you said to A to B.
Michelle [27:52 - 27:58]
I do, I love and the members seem to also
Adam [27:59 - 27:59]
they're
Michelle [27:59 - 28:07]
very high in terms of our listening rates. Just very, very relatable to people too.
Chad [28:08 - 28:08]
Oh
Michelle [28:08 - 28:47]
these are the members that were sweating beside working hard with their dealing with the same things that as we are, it's cool to showcase that and give real life examples of all of the things that they've implemented in their life to live the fit life. So I've enjoyed listening to those and providing a platform for these people to kind of express their story and get a little bit of they deserve it. Like they've worked really hard on transforming um their life and then hopefully just maybe providing that spark for someone else to
Adam [28:48 - 28:48]
to
Michelle [28:48 - 28:50]
make a similar transformation. So
Chad [28:51 - 28:52]
I feel
Michelle [28:52 - 29:04]
like that it might have been your idea to get the members on. So kudos, you're like, I don't know, kudos to you, I can't remember, but I've been really loving those ones for sure.
Chad [29:05 - 29:36]
Yeah and you're right, they deserve it and it's not like we we look at like how successful they've been from a like from a listening perspective, like we don't just do them every week. We actually are a bit more picky, right? Like you really have this, these are people that have done it for not months, like years, so well we'll have more for sure. I think there is a few that we haven't done yet that we're excited to hopefully do in the, in the, in the next year or so. But yeah, they obviously have transformed their life for sure.
Michelle [29:36 - 29:47]
Just a quick fix pick. Um, these are people that we know have truly transformed and are sort of digging in. Yeah. Speaking of,
Adam [29:49 - 29:50]
That's my number two as
Michelle [29:50 - 29:51]
well,
Adam [29:51 - 30:17]
all the transformation stories and we did, we took a long time to get started on them. We weren't sure how comfortable the members would be, we weren't sure what other members would think. Um, but yeah, after we, after we got the first couple done, we knew it would be something that we want to get in there on a monthly basis and we can even learn, It was great to sit down
Michelle [30:17 - 30:17]
with
Adam [30:18 - 30:38]
all of these long term members who we see every day, but we don't really know, like how are you so consistent, how do you show up every day? How do you keep your nutrition in check? Like, you know, some of the toughest things that most of us struggle with in life, they're just doing so consistently. So yeah, that's, that's my number two.
Chad [30:39 - 30:57]
Yeah, I think, I think Garth and Liz were the 1st 1st ones, so I think we're like 10 episodes in before we started, so hey, yeah, a few power couples. A few solo. Yeah.
Michelle [30:57 - 31:06]
See who's next number one highlight of season one
Chad [31:07 - 31:41]
numero Uno shouldn't be surprised to most people that know me. Obviously the, and I mean, I think you could, you could summarize this like great guest, so guest spots, like we have some awesome, like pros that come in, like morgan's been on a few episodes dot com has been on a few mark has been on a few, so we have a few like recurring uh experts if you will, but like for me, it was awesome interviewing hebrew from the buttery bros, I think you gotta want
Michelle [31:41 - 31:43]
it
Chad [31:43 - 32:37]
obviously with my, with my special co host Ian Childs, that was a blast. Um yeah, I'm not ashamed to say a little Fanboy moment, but that was, that was pretty fun and it was just, it was Funny for a few reasons. one because like, you know, this podcast was kind of introduced to kind of tell your story of LP and then also like expanded to to the members and tell their stories and and try to make this our community a bit bigger and, and tell their stories and it's like when the whole hebrew thing happened, it's like, wow, this is like, this is like a real thing, like it's not like not saying he brews some sort of like professional athlete, but he's a well known, I guess he probably goes by influencer in the community. So it was kind of cool to kind of make, make it feel like this podcast is actually like a legitimate thing. Like this is, this is real, like it's bigger than what we think it is probably or possibly
Adam [32:38 - 32:40]
literally around the world, right?
Chad [32:40 - 33:23]
Yeah, So yeah, it was awesome fun and just a blast and I thought it was actually quite um and somehow even though people are just like the butter bills are just ridiculous and they're just like out there, but it's actually quite relatable. Um some of the things we talked about because it wasn't the typical interview I've listened to a few podcasts in researching and it was, it was the same old thing like you got fired by crossfit and all that sort of stuff and telling a story, but we wanted to do something different. So we really talked about his sort of transformation that we noticed just by being sort of instagram followers or Youtube followers and funny about his transformation and how he does things similar to the pillars that we do in our community. So that has to be number one for sure,
Michelle [33:25 - 33:25]
wow,
Chad [33:25 - 33:27]
easy picks for me
Michelle [33:29 - 33:38]
and season to chad you're going to have to come up with a start thinking about who you want for your next hot, big highlight for season two. So
Chad [33:38 - 33:43]
yes, that's very true. That's a tough one to top. But yeah, we'll have to try.
Michelle [33:43 - 34:02]
Yeah. Okay, my top highlight is not one particular episode. I would say it's those first for, was it four episodes? Yes, I think those four episodes where we dug into um
Chad [34:04 - 34:04]
the
Michelle [34:04 - 34:07]
making of, oh
Chad [34:07 - 34:13]
Gosh, I figured I figured that was an easy pick for the two of you. It was five episodes, 5
Michelle [34:13 - 35:05]
episodes as business owners and just grinders at heart. Like Adam said reflection for us is not something that We reflect on our like 90 day goals, like those sorts of things, but we never did that when we first started what, just looking back on the transformations and the things, the life lessons that we can pull from and learn from and also just providing our members with some relatable experiences like we're here today, but these are not the people that started the gym. So just giving them a little bit of inside and suit where we came from and the struggles that we went through. Um so
Adam [35:05 - 35:09]
what if we do each episode, we talked about our fitness at that point in time.
Michelle [35:10 - 35:11]
Yeah,
Adam [35:11 - 35:17]
yeah. Each part of the, in the early days in the middle and
Michelle [35:17 - 35:17]
now
Adam [35:17 - 35:28]
fitness during that time, our nutrition during that time, our recovery or lack thereof recovery during that time and then what are big goals were during
Michelle [35:28 - 35:41]
that time, like the stress phase versus being like a young athlete versus performance phase, all of those fun stuff and all of those different phases enabled us
Adam [35:41 - 35:41]
to
Michelle [35:42 - 35:50]
to learn about a lot of things, but sometimes if you aren't forced to think about it, you forget where,
Adam [35:50 - 35:50]
where
Michelle [35:50 - 36:13]
you learn those things and where it came from. So um that's a long, that's a year ago, but I would say to start the podcast off um from I guess a selfish perspective for me, that was my highlight of the years, digging into those, dig into that history in reflecting for sure.
Chad [36:14 - 36:14]
Well
Michelle [36:14 - 36:15]
that was yours,
Adam [36:15 - 36:17]
that was mine to
Chad [36:17 - 36:18]
anything
Michelle [36:18 - 36:21]
you wanted to say. Besides what I said.
Adam [36:21 - 36:28]
I think it was just cool that immediately we called it like the stress phase, the performance phase, like
Michelle [36:28 - 36:29]
it
Adam [36:29 - 37:31]
was just as soon as we started thinking about what life was like in most, you know, as a young athlete and then in the early days of L. P. It was stressed, so like stress eating, we worked out just to get a sweat on uh recovery didn't exist. Sleep wasn't a priority. But then the performance phase is probably the coolest one because when we were living in it, we didn't even really think about it that way, but our nutrition was very performance driven, right? It was very specific, regimented, not super balanced. Um Our fitness was like all in all the time again, like recovery wasn't a huge part of it other than like maybe a monthly treatment, but like self care wasn't even a thing and now like what we call today is like the optimal health stages, like we're definitely the healthiest version of ourselves right now, which is cool.
Chad [37:32 - 37:52]
Yeah, I think after those, after those first three episodes, like the podcast just didn't go anywhere. It was still very successful because it was pretty cool and I think it was a tough start for sure because you guys were very honest and transparent and you really have to do a lot of reflection and to start podcast that way. Talk about nervous. I remember Michelle, it's
Michelle [37:52 - 37:59]
like all of that information I like kept inside of me and then all of a sudden I had to, you know, therapy
Chad [37:59 - 38:01]
session, little therapy session
Adam [38:01 - 38:04]
for one hour.
Michelle [38:04 - 38:12]
So kind of glad that all that's over but but I am very glad that um that's how it started.
Chad [38:12 - 38:36]
Yeah, it was great. It was great. It's nice for imagine is ah well it's just, I guess with anything like whether you have like some sort of journal or public youtube channel or anything like it's just, it's a, it's sort of a journal of your milestones and it's pretty cool. It's pretty cool to have that publicly out there.
Michelle [38:37 - 38:40]
Yes, yes for
Chad [38:40 - 38:42]
everyone to see the internet lives on forever.
Michelle [38:43 - 38:51]
Yeah, definitely outside my comfort zone, but it needs to be. Yeah, yes,
Chad [38:52 - 39:22]
amazing. 35 episodes, a ton of guests. Um Yeah, we can't even like name, it's hard to remember. Like we had like Lauren, Lauren was a great episode. Uh we've mentioned Hebrew that we had like Garth and Liz we had uh Athena covert dot Kyle's been recurring, morgan's been recurring. Both of those. Hopefully we get them back again in the coming year.
Michelle [39:24 - 39:34]
We have the young guns, that one podcast. Yeah, Ali was on, Yeah,
Chad [39:34 - 39:36]
right after the throw downs.
Michelle [39:37 - 39:37]
That's
Chad [39:37 - 39:44]
cool. That was cool, danish. We had a lot of endurance ones do with Mark.
Michelle [39:44 - 39:52]
Yeah, we had to see you there. And Ian Childs is our special host. We need to get him back again.
Adam [39:52 - 39:53]
Yeah,
Chad [39:53 - 39:54]
yeah.
Adam [39:54 - 39:57]
Quarterly appearance. He charges big
Michelle [39:57 - 39:58]
bucks. He does.
Chad [39:58 - 40:12]
It's, it's tough to knock. It's tough to lock him down. For sure. I wonder if we need to make him the interviewee. Maybe he'll give us a bit more flexibility on the other side of the table. Want to see
Adam [40:13 - 40:25]
Grade one Teacher, you know, the summers are super busy for him. Yeah,
Chad [40:26 - 41:07]
that's amazing. Yeah, yeah, for sure. And if anyone's listening, thank you everyone for listening. And if you have ever have any sort of ideas or thoughts or feedback on the podcast, please, uh, paying any of us somehow some way. Um, I think they're usually podcasts like leave us a review here and there. We haven't done that yet. Maybe we'll have to start doing that, but I think we're still just thriving on doing this for the love of the community and stuff. So it's super fun. Season two coming at you soon. Yeah, it's been awesome. I don't have anything else to say except for saying thanks for everyone.
Michelle [41:07 - 41:16]
And thank you chad. I know we thank you on all other platforms, but um thank you for pushing us to do this.
Adam [41:16 - 41:22]
We just kind of show up and gets it done behind the scenes, The dirty
Michelle [41:22 - 41:23]
work.
Chad [41:24 - 41:25]
That's right,
Michelle [41:25 - 41:28]
appreciate all your effort for season one.
Chad [41:29 - 41:38]
Amazing. Amazing. Well, thank you guys. Another episode done turning the page. Thanks everyone for listening. We will see you season two.
Adam [41:45 - 41:47]
Mhm. Yeah.
